We're Alive: A Story of Survival

Do you long for the days of old when families would sit around the radio and listen.  Not to music, but well produced audio dramas.  Dramas with a full cast of characters, music, and amazing sound effects.  I am talking well produced with top notch writing.  Maybe you are one of these people and don't even know it yet.  Well if you are, you need to be listening to We're Alive

We're Alive is a available for free from the website Zombiepodcast.com or from any podcatcher/iTunes, and it follows a ragtag group of survivors of the Zombie Apocolypse as they learn to cope with their new and dangerous new world.  It isn't just the zombies that they have to protect themselves from, as they quickly find out.

If you like zombies and/or like Walking Dead, you are going to love We're Alive.  The zombies are a bit different and the characters are trying to figure it out.  If you don't think you are a zombie fan, I say give this one a shot as it is well written and well produced.  I would rate it at 13+ due to fantasy violence, language, and non graphic sexual situations.

I really don't understand how someone hasn't picked this up as a TV series to cash in on the success of Walking Dead.  It is certainly good enough.  Highly recommended

Walking Dead/Game of Thrones

Okay, what genius scheduled the walking dead finale at the exact same time as the genius that scheduled the Game of Thrones premier.  Luckily GoT was the only thing HBO showed for the rest of the night.  What made me really mad was at 10:01pm when walkind dead was still going strong.  The ran it over 5 minutes.  Why!?!  to screw people who DVR?  To screw people who wanted to flip over and see the encore of GoT.  That decision doesn't make sense to me.

Well, on to the reviews:

Walking Dead: Season 3 Finale-  I have a great idea, lets build to something all season and then make it completely suck.  Make it a total anti-climax, in every possible way.  This episode felt like an early April fools day gift.  It was that disappointing.  To compare it with what happened in the comics isn't fair, because it would have cost way more than what they did, right.  What, the comics thing might have been cheaper, more dramatic and move the story forward all at the same time.  Other things also happen that are inconsistent to the comic and this may have been the producers telling us that it isn't going to be the comic we know and love.  Lets hope World War Z doesn't make any money or the zombies will be superhuman next season too.  Almost enough to make me stop watching the show.  Horrible end cap to an amazing season.

Game of Thrones: Season premier-  They have to set everything up, I see them combining characters and compressing stories to get to the action.  This season is very promising, but the first episode was largely a set up for what is to come.  Can't fault the show for that.  Can't wait for next week.

The Walking Dead Vol. 1- NCCD

Huge fan of the Walking Dead TV show here, but for some weird reason, I have never read the comics.  Maybe it is because they started at a point in my life when I wasn’t really reading many comics.  Anyways, I saw the TPB of the first six issues at the library and couldn’t wait to dive in.  Fans of the show, it is quite a bit different.  I won’t ruin it for you, but people don’t die in the same order as they do in the series.  Kirkman does a really good job with pacing in the story and it reads pretty quickly.  The art is good and suits itself to the story very well.
In other news, Marvel has announced that buying any paper comic will grant you an e copy of the book as well.  This is to be done with special codes and the magic of the internet.  You will have to have the marvel app to get the books and these apps are available for ios and Android.  There isn’t an app for unjailbroken kindle fires as of yet, but I am sure that there will be by the launch date in 06/12.

There are some blogs out there that have put up a lot of Halloween content an I just want to show them some love.

First up is Slice Into Insanity-Angel delivers the Halloween goods all year round and really steps it up for October.

Bryce over at Things that don't suck is doing 31 days of horror that doesn't suck.  I guess that means no vampires or zombies with straws.

Sears zombifies their site

Sears, in the spirit of halloween (or are they a sponser of The Walking Dead?), have converted a page of the website to cater to any zombies that would like to shop.  The page has a zombie gift guige, twitter feed, and even a zombie maker.  So, it should be fun for the whole family.

Link to your zombie buddy in the comments.
