I would like to thank Steve for Recommending this one.
Remember Anya (Emma Caulfield) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Have you ever wondered what happened to her? At least you can know what she did in 2009 with Timer.
The concept of the movie is that everyone has a soul mate and that science has figured out how to measure the amount of time a person has until they meet that special someone. Unless of course that someone doesn't have a Timer, in which case the other person's timer would remain blank.
Oona is in her 30s and still has a blank timer. She doesn't want to waste time on a guy that isn't the one. Her stepsister has a timer but it says she has over 6k days left. She takes the opposite approach and is very promiscuis.
The movie explores some pretty deep questions like does destiny exist and because there is a soul mate should someone put off living and loving in order to wait for that person. The movie can both be funny and heart warming, and they do a pretty good job of getting you to identify with Oona.
The science is pretty light, but it was an enjoyable story. It falls more into the RomCom category, but gets some scifi cred because of Anya.

They definitely went RomCom with the ending, backing away from one a little meatier, but I thought it was fun and clever.
