A-Team Movie Review

You know the story.  An elite military force, fugitives from the law.  If you have a problem and can find them, maybe they can help.

I grew up on this show.  It was awesome.  Every kid wanted a mohawk and gold chains.  Cigar smoking never seemed so cool.  I wanted the van and there is part of me that still does.  This show was iconic and was actually a family show, regardless of Face's fillandering and the over the top violence and explosions.  All that being said, it should be understood that this show has a place in my psyche.  I was not actually looking forward to the movie.  Especially after I saw B.A. and Murdock on WWE Raw.

I was pleasantly surprised.  First off, the movie isn't rocket science.  It is pure popcorn fun.  The director, screen writer, and all the actors seemed to understand this.  This is the main reason this movie worked.  It was fun and the people putting it together were having fun, which I imagine the show was like as well.  Were there plot holes?  I am sure there were, but I will leave it to someone else to go through the movie with a fine toothed comb.  As one friend put it, "The explosions were tied together by a surprisingly entertaining plot."

The actors did a fair job of portraying the iconic 80's characters.  I imagine it is a hard thing to step into the role that has been known by the world to be played by someone else for about 30 years.  You just can't step in and be Mr. T, Hannibal, Murdoch, and Face.  The original actors were the characters.  I think the new cast walked a pretty fine line in making the characters their own while also staying faithful to the original.

Overall- The movie was a lot of fun.  I had a good time.  I laughed. . . a lot.  I suspended a whole lot of disbelief and my only regret is that Face never said, "not the face."  I even liked Jessica Biel.  Go to a showing with a crowd, buy some popcorn, relax, and enjoy yourself, because you will love it when a plan comes together.
