Ernie wasn't loved by his parents, so when Lady Death offered him eternal love in exchange for destroying all life on Earth, he took the deal. Ernie had the ability to raise and control the dead. He had an evil psychotic button named Smiley, who is the source of his arcane power. Ernie was the poster boy for teen angst acted out in rage. Chaos comics became very popular do to this character. Ernie eventually causes the world to end in a nuclear war. He was basically the fantasy of angsty teens as he got to kill his enemies before enslaving them and had the veluptuous Lady Death as a girlfriend.
