Thank Cal for reminding me that I haven't seen this movie that I wanted to see yet.
I think The Fall can be best described as a Princess Bride type story, only the story teller is trying to get the kid to steal morphine for him so he can kill himself.
It ends up a story of friendship in the end, but it gets really dark before it gets light.
The fantasy world is gorgeous and that is the real reason to see the film. The little girl steals the show.
A neat bit of trivie is that there were no special effects in this movie. It in 26 locations in 18 countries. thanks IMDB.
I would recommend this one for almost everyone. When it gets dark, it may be too dark for some younger kids.

I haven't seen this one...
I haven't seen it either, but now I'm thinking I will...
thanks!
one of my top ten most favourite films ever. And I'm proud that my friend was casting director in the film, and I also had a pleasure of talking with the mother of amazing little Katrinka from the film. She made the whole film, and I will never understand how she wasn't nominated for Oscar that year. Guess it's only because she isn't American.
Told it was sweet. By the way you are totally right about Equilibrium too. That 'gun kata' is too much.
That one has some amazing cinematography -- the whole opening B&W sequence with the horse was awesome.
