The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)

The Time Traveler's Wife
Put another notch on the the movies that fail at being as good as the book tally.  The movie was interesting and okay, but it misses the point of the whole story.  It isn't a story about time travel as much as it is a love story that has time travel in it.

In the first five minutes of "Up" the audience is given the entire relationship between the couple and their dreams, yet The Time Traveler's Wife is unable to give us half that emotion with the entire length of the movie.

The actors did a good job, but they had absolutely no chemistry and the whole love story felt rushed and almost like a sideline.  I think that part of this is that the movie takes place almost soley from Henry's perspective.  The book shows us the relationship from both sides.

I will never understand why a movie will change a scene from the book for no apparent reason, especially when it is the ending.  I wonder if it is the director or the screen writer that make this decision.  Maybe they see the movie isn't working and try and jazz it up a bit.  It seems a bit arrogant whatever the reason.

This movie wasn't bad, but it wasn't great and it definately wasn't the book.  It could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse.  This is an okay date movie.  Probably not so much for Scifi fans as it is a bit light on the Sci side.
