HBO: Game of Thrones

Winter is coming!  I saw the first installment of this show last night and it is pretty well done.  It keeps with, what I remember of, the novel very well.  It is no surprise that I like the characters of Arya and Tywin as they are my favorites.  I like Jon Snow in the books but I wasn't really feeling him in the series.  Emilia Clarke has won me over to the Targaryen cause though.  Her Daenerys is breath taking and heart melting.  I can't wait for the second epidisode.

Warning:  Lots of adult content and nudity in this show.

So, what did you think?

So glad you said something I was really looking forward to this and forgot to watch I will have to set my DVR. I have the book on my shelf to read I might push it forward so I can get through it before too much of the series has been done.

Loved it! It was especially fun watching with a couple people who hadn't read the books. They were audibly shocked by the ending of the first episode.

So good!

I thought it was extremely well done and was pleased with the tone and balance of activity and exposition -- I wondered if it would be hard for non-readers to get up to speed.

I thought the casting was done pretty well -- though I had a hard time distinguishing Robb from Jon Snow, though maybe that wasn't an accident. The only misstep was Khal Drogo who reminded me too much of the stupid one of the three from Superman-II...

I love exactly that adult and nudity content :) in the show. That's why we loved SPARTACUS as well.

I lucked out and had a free weekend of HBO and cinemax, so I had the chance to see the premiere.

I haven't read this series yet although it is on my "eventually list." I thought it was done pretty well and I have no real complaints. I forgot how much better HBO original series are compared to others.

I'm generally pro-nudity, but I thought it didn't serve the story in all the scenes. A lil too much pointless skin.
