Green Lantern Rebirth (2006)

Green Lantern: RebirthAlthough a knowledge of Hal Jordan’s origin as Green Lantern is helpful, it isn’t necessary to pick up this graphic novel and understanding and enjoying. The book actually does a fair job of catching up new readers with an everything you need to know to understand the story so far.

Hal Jordan is Spectre, the spirit of vengeance, after going seemingly insane and destroying the Green Lantern Corps he used his power to reignite the sun, dying in the process. Now years later, it turns out Jordan was under the influence of Parallax. Parallax had been imprisoned in the main power battery on OA for a long, long time. He was the reason for the ring’s weakness against yellow for so long. The story follows the Green Lanterns of Earth and the JLA as things start going haywire.

This is the retcon that will eventually lead to the Blackest Night storyline. It is a fairly good story and it also brings another former Lantern back into the fray.
