Revolution- Review

This fall NBC will be airing a new show from producer J.J. Abrams.  If you have On Demand, you can go out and watch the pilot episode now.

The premise of the show is that someone has managed to do something to cause electricity to stop working.  The previews show the black out but it is more than that.  Without electricity, the whole world is thrown into chaos and out of the rubble several republics have risen.

The show starts with a pre black out scene showing someone that was at the very least knowledgeable and somewhat prepared for what was going to happen.  Then we get shoved 15 years into the future to an idylic villiage were kids are being taught the history of what happened.  To make a long pilot short the guy that knows something is killed, his son is taken prisoner, and his daughter is told to find her uncle and rescue her brother.  It is assumed that the uncle knows something as well.

So in the picture above, you have the daughter, the uncle, a former google geek millionaire, and the step mom.

I have questions.  Making electricity not work planet wide seems a bit ridiculous to me.  I also think that there are way to many survivors.  Guns look to be illegal and there were some people with muzzle loaders in the show, but guns don't need electricity to work and or to make bullets, not sure what that is about yet.  The feel of the show is too bright and clean.  take the above picture of the girl in the very clean looking blue shirt and ox blood colored leather jacket.  The show has a scene of google geek in an ACDC t-shirt, unfaded.  Looks like the black out spread to the clothing manufacturing industry last.

Overall, the question about the electricity is so intruiging I think I will have to continue watching it.  The acting is really bad at this point and the show just doesn't seem comfortable with itself.  Maybe that will change a bit.  It actually feels like that CBS show from a couple of years back, Jericho, only with worse acting.  But I watched Jericho all the way through, so that isn't really a bad comparison.  Or maybe it is as Jericho was cancelled for low ratings.

What did you think?

I watched the premier and had questions as well. I'll give it a few more episodes.

I am not getting into this Terra Nova lite and I will be a better man for it.
